Yusen Logistics has won what it describes as a "major" contract with Hoover Candy for UK-wide supply of its entire product range to independent retailers.
Yusen will collect products such as freestanding and built-in laundry, cooking, cooling and floor care appliances from Hoover's warehouse in Merthyr Tydfil for cross-docking and onward delivery via the Yusen network.
Yusen Logistics commercial director Nick Rees said delivering the operator had been delivering to the independent trade for 20 years and had "worked extremely hard" to understand the specialist needs of the independent retailer - including "clarity of delivery information, reliable deliveries at convenient times and support onsite".
The cross-docking service supplied by Yusen to Hoover includes sortation of mixed loads from Merthyr Tydfil - a service that Yusen said offers flexibility and scalability for Hoover Candy to allow for future growth in volumes.
Hoover Candy operations director John Pugh said: “This new operation forms a key part of our drive to be the supplier of choice to our customers. Based on their feedback we have worked with Yusen to create a new and improved supply chain solution. We hope that this, coupled with the quality of our award winning, innovative products, will provide a strong platform for growth in the independent sector.”
No duration or value has been placed on the contract.
