PML Seafrigo is now offering fine food producers access to its scheduled chilled less-than-container-load (LCL) service to the US, enabling the transfer of goods in 11 days.
The company, formerly PML, said the newly launched London to New York line would appeal to producers in the cheese, chocolate, charcuterie and dry goods sectors wanting to exploit the US’s love of UK fine foods.
As an LCL service, PML Seafrigo said customers only pay for the space they use in the container, with the goods of several clients placed together.
It said that the Department for Business & Trade had identified the US as the UK’s third largest market for food and drink exports, which totalled £2.0 billion in 2021.

PML Seafrigo’s service includes pickup, consolidation and storage in the UK and deconsolidation, storage and delivery in the US.
The final mile of the journey, from the warehouse to the customer destination is completed on a Seafrigo truck or on the truck of one of its approved partners.
“We can now provide a complete end-to-end temperature-controlled transfer, using our bonded warehouses which enables customs clearance on site,” said Ian Shuttlewood, PML Seafrigo UK GM – ocean product and operations.
