Logistics UK in talks with foreign secretary over Northern Ireland protocol

Logistics UK met with foreign secretary James Cleverly this week to discuss difficulties on the free movement of trade that have arisen as a result of the Northern Ireland protocol.

Cleverly and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris, met NI political leaders as well as business groups to discuss the specific difficulties caused by the protocol.

Logistics UK said it emphasised the need for a negotiated outcome between the UK and the EU on the implementation of the protocol that reduced the administrative and cost burdens: “Logistics businesses are the backbone of the Northern Ireland economy,” said Nichola Mallon, head of trade and devolved policy at Logistics UK.
